Technology Bother’s Me

I’ve been working on three entirely different albums for over two years now. It’s interesting how things come together. When you’re making something as pure and honest as you know how, life constructs your art. Your process is one that imitates the motion of your life. Well for me it seems to be the case. Yesterday I did a scratch vocal for a song I’ve been working on for a minute. I’ve been writing pieces for this album “1984 Complex: Mon-tag’s Love”, produced by Magnavok7 or Mag7 a very interesting grouping of individuals associated with the label I started, called Eklektic Gardens. The song “Technology Bother’s Me’. I want you to hear my rough idea thus far. I’ve probably mentioned this before. I have a hard time to recalling melodies, so I have to put something down, no matter how bad it sounds. Please bare with me for now. Listen then let’s discuss ‘technology’…

Technology bother’s me and honestly I can’t see, unless I close my eyes…
Technology bother’s me and honestly I can’t see, unless I close my eyes…

The retina scan, chip in my hand
a simple man, wired inside
more die cast steel, feeling less real
harness on back, can’t reach for the sky
she talks in text, automated sex
our thoughts undress, libido is gone
chemicals spilled, took our free will
there is no pill, for perfect life…

I’m currently writing the second verse, while working out the dynamics of how I want the song to sound. There is currently no track. I’m most likely going to build it around the vocals once everything has been written. I have so many thoughts going through my mind, soon enough I’ll get them all down to share.

Simply: The Reference Track

1984complex_art1

Yeah so I actually got around to recording a dirty lil rough reference of ‘Simply’ a few weeks back and I’m sharing it with you, along with the art to the forthcoming project… here goes. You can rip me to shreds. I’ll just be even more creative… Thereafter…

Lay Down The Line

So during my train ride from the Bronx To L.E.S. tonight I started writing a new song. I’m liking it. So far I have two verses and a chorus. No track. I wrote it to air. I think the song sums up my feels after my crash on the previous night. The great thing about experiencing a crash (at least with me that is) I always come out of it with a surge of creativeness. That surge can last for a few hours, days, weeks or even a month. I’m grateful.

[verse]
Blue shadows fall,
wherever they may,
wherever they may…

Tired of waitin for calls
I’m a natural born star
don’t care what you say

Forget your privacy lines
I ain’t waitin outside
the suns shoutin at night

bein weak ain’t my plight
ain’t no left or no right
just the middle insight

[chorus]
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line

take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind

time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line

take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind

[verse]
Some people said i wouldn’t make it to day
But don’t take it that way
just don’t take it that way

so what does the hell that mean
it’s like tellin me sleep
but you don’t want me to dream
you just don’t want me to see

the possibles within reach
strength in words that we speak
even movin our feet

encoded truth in the beat
mixing love in the tune
we’re human flowers in bloom

[chorus]
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line

take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind

time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line

take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind

So there you have it. This will not be on the ‘Let Her Bomb’ project. Actually I’m considering hollering at some friends in Brooklyn that have a band called ‘Work Out’ and seeing if they’re down to work out some music for this and maybe I’ll rock it out with them in near future. We shall see.

PS: I wrote this song in a small spiral book with a pen… I hardly ever write anything on paper these days. This song kinda poured right out of me. I can’t wait to record an acappella. I’ll post it maybe.

Customize?

Alright, so here we go. I think maybe 2 years ago I started working on this idea for a song called Customize. It’s a Magnavok7 tune of course because well I’m discussing it in the Mag7 Dossier obviously. Anyway, I worked on it as I normally do, especially for this project, bare bones production so I can write lyrics then get a rough recording. Not too concerned with how great the singing is, just basically making sure not to forget the melody. I put something down. I had a computer crash on me. So the session is in limbo on the drive that crashed along with the first three tracks from the Electronix EP I’d been working on…

Big question is, once I’ve finished this Customize song, ‘Will it be included on this ‘Let Her Bomb’ album’? There’s also another tune that’s been in the works for what seems like forever called ‘Stage Left’. That one I’m pretty sure won’t be included.

Anyway, here’s Customize.

Keep in mind it’s a reference development track. Don’t get all crazy on me about how the chorus sounds. And once again it’s bare bones… Beasy… An incomplete track but I’m still sharing it with you. Giving you a sneak peek and inviting you to experience my process.
