Can You Dig This? Mos Def – 24 Hour Karate School
Posted by iAreConscious in Blog, Video on April 24, 2010
All I can say is this is beautiful. Big shout to Dame Dash and Ski Beatz for making this possible. I love you Mos Def even if they call you crazy. An honest and genuine attempt at getting back to making real music. I believe they’ve been successful. How much really have you heard about this project? Spread the word. Support good music and stop complaining about the television and radio. You don’t listen to’em anyway. Take control! Creative Control!
Lay Down The Line

So during my train ride from the Bronx To L.E.S. tonight I started writing a new song. I’m liking it. So far I have two verses and a chorus. No track. I wrote it to air. I think the song sums up my feels after my crash on the previous night. The great thing about experiencing a crash (at least with me that is) I always come out of it with a surge of creativeness. That surge can last for a few hours, days, weeks or even a month. I’m grateful.
[verse]
Blue shadows fall,
wherever they may,
wherever they may…
Tired of waitin for calls
I’m a natural born star
don’t care what you say
Forget your privacy lines
I ain’t waitin outside
the suns shoutin at night
bein weak ain’t my plight
ain’t no left or no right
just the middle insight
[chorus]
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
[verse]
Some people said i wouldn’t make it to day
But don’t take it that way
just don’t take it that way
so what does the hell that mean
it’s like tellin me sleep
but you don’t want me to dream
you just don’t want me to see
the possibles within reach
strength in words that we speak
even movin our feet
encoded truth in the beat
mixing love in the tune
we’re human flowers in bloom
[chorus]
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
So there you have it. This will not be on the ‘Let Her Bomb’ project. Actually I’m considering hollering at some friends in Brooklyn that have a band called ‘Work Out’ and seeing if they’re down to work out some music for this and maybe I’ll rock it out with them in near future. We shall see.
PS: I wrote this song in a small spiral book with a pen… I hardly ever write anything on paper these days. This song kinda poured right out of me. I can’t wait to record an acappella. I’ll post it maybe.
I meant to tell you about these guys…!

If you haven’t heard of Apollo Heights, it’s probably not your fault, or perhaps maybe it is. Regardless, they are definitely worth paying attention to. Their most recent album, ‘White Music For Black People’ is pretty tight and has a number of songs that make even me feel some kinda way. Most likely you’ll be getting a review of the record from me pretty soon and I’m working on getting some folks of mine to do an interview with the band. Until then, I’ll leave you with the song ‘Disco Lights’. Enjoy.

The 1st Briefing: Magnavok7
Posted by iAreConscious in Magnavok7 Dossier on December 7, 2008
As described on their Last.fm band page Magnavok7, is a very obscure band signed to the Alter Egos partition of the Eklektic Gardens label. Little is currently known about the band and it’s members. Well I’ll put it to you plainly, you will never see them, at least in the near future. Think Gorillaz. It’s interesting working on music with these guys and the forth coming EP, ‘Let Her Bomb’ is shaping up to be quite a phenomenal work if I do say so myself. So what is my involvement? Well I’ll say I’m partly responsible for production on this album and share in the resposibility of creating awareness for this invisible band. The Maganvok7 Dossier on iareconscious.com will be a journal of some sort recording and reporting on various aspects of the ‘Let Her Bomb’ album, while allowing folks a glimpse into the world of the band called Magnavok7.

I hear the people talkin…
