MC Lyte feat. DJ Premier – Wonder Years

Shamefully, for the first time I’m seeing this video today. It’s interesting how you come across things. I posted an article on another blog yesterday and today I check my email and see there’s a comment. The comment was a correction to some of the information in the article posted. I checked it out, made the correction and looked for the email of the person that left the comment. I find the persons email. Email him back and thank him for pointing out the mistake then proceed to check out his blog (Humble Little Hip-Hop Blog). Looks good. I add his link to my site and while browsing the blog I find this MC Lyte video. I’m thinking, ‘wow how did I miss this?’. It doesn’t surprise me at all though. You know exactly how music is these days. Of course I wouldn’t have seen this unless I was actually looking for it. Anyway, the video is pretty nice. MC Lyte looks dope of course and well the rhymes ain’t too bad either. Enjoy…

Pump the brakes son, you’re driving kinda crazy…

If you’re tired sometimes it’s best to just pull over on the side of the road and take a rest. If you don’t, you may hurt yourself and or someone else.

If your body is telling you it’s time to make some changes don’t ignore it. Last night simply because I didn’t follow what my body has been telling me for quite some time now, I ended up putting someone I love dearly in a stress undeserved. It’s important that we make sure that what we’re going through doesn’t pollute the air for everyone else that has to breathe. I’ve been asked by lots of friends in the past why I’d disappear for so long, and how come I’m never came out. One thing I’ve kinda lived by is this whole thing about not taking a cloud with me wherever I go. You don’t wanna show up to the beach with a suitcase full of winter clothes. Seriously. (Coney Island’s turkey sized seagulls unnerve me anyway. Yipes!) I personally believe in taking responsibility for the mood you set and the way your attitude may affect those around you. With that said, please listen to your body. It’s basically your most on point tool if you take care of it.

Everything begins with you…

Here’s a tune, (Parliament – Gettin’ to Know You) for that person I love. I’m sorry.

Smiley Face Neo Year.

A new year. Yeah. So what? What are your resolutions? Well I have none personally. I’m basically working on doing whatever it is I’m supposed to be doing in the first place. To each their own. I don’t do the resolution thing. I just wanna refine my method of following the path of least resistance and training myself to be at ease as a second nature thing.

There’s something I need to fix in the code of this template that will allow the images from my post to be displayed. I’ll figure it out at some point. Anyway, I’ve got to start dropping these journals about the albums I’m working on.

If you notice now to our left we have info about my upcoming shows courtesy of the Reverbnation show schedule widget. there’s also my random notes broadcast via Twitter. And I’ve added some Last’fm widget. It basically shows images of all covers or artist I’m currently listening to. Something like that.

Well The Knitting Factory is done. In Manhattan that is. (My friend Adam just wrote a bit about ‘The Knit‘ and it’s closing) I’m happy I can say that I performed there a handful of times just like at CBGB’s before both venues close their doors. I even did a short run of freelance security there. It’s interesting how people respond to you when you work in a venue they’re either trying get in to see a free show at or wishing they could get a slot on the main stage. Participating in every aspect of entertainment from being on the stage to being the one that book and arranges shows to simply doing the door, affords you much valuable experience and give one a certain respect for all that’s involved in making something successful happen. I think about the future of this Bondfire event I’m now doing at The Bowery Poetry Club and the limitless possibilities available to me at this point in my career.
