Introducing, The Blackberry Series…

With my art there’s always different phases for me. I’m learning, growing and understanding my own creations. There are times when I get stuck with a certain idea and it overtakes the possibilities of whatever else could be. Overtime I’ve learned to be flexible, rigidness can impede the maturation process of an artist. So can fear. So without fear and with freedom to explore what can be done using today’s modern technologies, I present to you, ‘The Blackberry Series’.

The ‘Blackberry Series’ is a new section of iareconscious.com. I’ll be sharing images directly from my Blackberry Storm as part of a personal exercise which involves learning to just let be. I’ll be posting unphoto-shopped images. No crops, color adjustments or doctoring of any fashion (*only resizing to properly fit this site’s post column). NO PHOTO MINIPULATION. You see exactly what I saw and captured.

There’s something I’d like your help with. ‘Captions!’.

Please send me captions for the images I post from this series. Funny, clever, introspective, whatever come to your minds. I’ll compile them and post them with your name and link to credit you for your contribution.

Here are the first two photos taken in Parkslope on Saturday April 23rd.

Producer – Willie Green: Drums Or MPC?

I first heard about Willie Green via TastyKeish. I listened to some music and made arrangements to do an interview shortly after. We talked a whole lot about music, producing and general ideas with regards to what we do and what else is going on in the grand scheme. Here’s one of many clips from our first taped conversation.

Yes, we’re working on some music too… Stay tuned for Über Greens.

Lay Down The Line

So during my train ride from the Bronx To L.E.S. tonight I started writing a new song. I’m liking it. So far I have two verses and a chorus. No track. I wrote it to air. I think the song sums up my feels after my crash on the previous night. The great thing about experiencing a crash (at least with me that is) I always come out of it with a surge of creativeness. That surge can last for a few hours, days, weeks or even a month. I’m grateful.

[verse]
Blue shadows fall,
wherever they may,
wherever they may…

Tired of waitin for calls
I’m a natural born star
don’t care what you say

Forget your privacy lines
I ain’t waitin outside
the suns shoutin at night

bein weak ain’t my plight
ain’t no left or no right
just the middle insight

[chorus]
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line

take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind

time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line

take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind

[verse]
Some people said i wouldn’t make it to day
But don’t take it that way
just don’t take it that way

so what does the hell that mean
it’s like tellin me sleep
but you don’t want me to dream
you just don’t want me to see

the possibles within reach
strength in words that we speak
even movin our feet

encoded truth in the beat
mixing love in the tune
we’re human flowers in bloom

[chorus]
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line

take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind

time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line
time to lay down the line

take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind
take the weight off my mind

So there you have it. This will not be on the ‘Let Her Bomb’ project. Actually I’m considering hollering at some friends in Brooklyn that have a band called ‘Work Out’ and seeing if they’re down to work out some music for this and maybe I’ll rock it out with them in near future. We shall see.

PS: I wrote this song in a small spiral book with a pen… I hardly ever write anything on paper these days. This song kinda poured right out of me. I can’t wait to record an acappella. I’ll post it maybe.

Conscious Conversations: Mercury The Maroon

Honestly, I don’t remember when I met Mercury for the first time. I do remember though, on the day we met having a very meaningful conversation. We see eye to eye on many things. Mercury is a very talented emcee/producer. I have an incredible amount of respect for him and recognize his vision. I hope that by introducing him to my audience he will be well received and his work be followed and shared…
